Tanya's Angels - Upcoming Projects

Upcoming projects

After being in Tanzania for a while now I understand there is a great need for a disabled facility.. This would be amazing for less advanced children to learn and what better way of opening a center for the children to let them grow and advance… so we could get specialised teachers, physiotherapists, sign language
Have a special soft play room, softballs sensory stimulation activities.

After talking to ladies that have been gifted special children they are really struggling with the government for help, a lot of the families are separated because of having a special child, and really struggle for help, like child care, schools, wheelchairs mobility equipment etc they have to fight and fight hard all on there own with the government not hearing the crying of help,

When the children go to school they get put on a school bus or local transport, BUT with many of the children needing special attention there is no supervision, for instance Shainoor with her son at 8 years old who is epileptic and has cerebral palsy he can only just sit up with help, he is put on a bus and he can slide down from his seat and bang his head or anything could happen, well I am thinking we need a special school bus with an assistant carer who is trained at giving the right attention to the children in case something happens on the way from home to school,

Also what about rest-bite for the parents/guardians?

Maybe school is on Monday through Friday, and they go home at the weekends or just for a few days, so it gives the caregiver some time out.

Testament from one of the mothers

I Shainoor Shabbir mother of a cerebral palsy child of 8 years living in Dar es salaam currently raising my two children all alone as a divorced woman, who is also jobless and with lack of support from family, friends and also my government.

I would like to raise my voice regardless the situation I am going through in order to get support from you Tanya as you have a plan for your upcoming project, I would like to bring this to your attention.

In Tanzania there are many children like mine and many with more worse situation than mine due to parents having lack of education and living in a rural areas whereby there is no proper health facilities, no wheel chair support, no long distance transport nor schools for children with special needs can go and be taken care of in a proper manner, keeping in mind our kids are special and gifted but to raise them it needs a lot of affection and positivity, many families are broken because a child with cerebral palsy is born and the woman is blamed to give birth to a curse or an omen as tanzanians believe,

So I myself been going around looking for help has personally faced big denial from people and the government too which is so heartbreaking, there I would like you (Tanya) to look into this as one of your projects and I believe you will be doing a very humble and a great job where by the children and us parents will have hopes for a better tomorrow for our children and ourselves.
